Orange Juice & Sweat

Orange juice is So Good! It is my absolute favorite drink. I was never a big fan of it, and I hated for it to have pulp... all until this summer. When we went to Colorado(Awesome trip!) Aunt Beanie gave me some orange juice with my breakfast, and I wasn't too excited about it, but I drank it anyways. At first I thought it was okay, but as the week went on a kept drinking it and it just kept getting better and better. After the week was over I still wanted orange juice, and now I make sure I always have some in the fridge. I keep it in the fridge in my room b/c I don't think my roomies would like to drink after me(i drink it straight from the carton.) Now I don't like it unless it has pulp... not to much though... I don't want to have to eat it or for it to clog up my throat on the way down. Colorado was a life changing experience. Orange juice, Dreadlocks, Reggae, and Bagelway. Don't worry Auntie Gem... its all for the best. :) People die doing this...

I did something nice on Thursday. There is a girl in my Biology lab that I don't like very much, but I try to like her. I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to like her. We did a lab that we had to write a lab report over but she had to leave before the results were finished. If she didn't leave she would be late for work and get in trouble by her boss. So as she was getting up to go I was like, "Don't you need the results to do your lab report?" and she was like, "Yeah, but I Have to leave." So I said, "Would you like me to e-mail you the results?" She was very grateful for that. I struggled for a moment with asking her this b/c I don't like her, but I did ask her and I felt good for doing it. I have prayed since then for God to change my heart toward her.

Today was a really good practice. We did the hard tempo run that we did last Tuesday, but I kicked its butt! I ran hard the entire time. Even CT told me I did a good job. That is a big deal! I was feeling so good as I was passing people. And Coach Cain was there with the throwers and he said good job working hard today. I was happy. Then I went and got my knees iced. I happy ending to a happy workout.

Shapa

Sunday morning I woke up at 9:30. I tried to sleep in but I couldn't make myself go back to sleep. Once Leah woke up at 12 we went to the caf... more not so good food. After that we went and did laundry. I talked to Luke the whole time about his english project. I came up with most of his quotes. Song and Movie quotes. I am awesome. The other day I was on facebook and one of my RC friend's status said she was sad. I commented her and said, "Don't be sad! *Handhug*". Hand hugs were something that we always did when I was in high school. She has a class with Luke this year and she told him that it made the rest of her day. That made me happy.
Last night was the last night of Big Spring Jam. We saw The Afters, Zac Brown Band, mercyme(They are so awesome), Corey Smith, Joe Nichols, and Blake Shelton. Three Dog Night was there too. There were 14 bands last night. We ate Greek food... delicious.
This morning I went to math, and we have a test Wednesday. At track practice we did 2 500s, 2 400s, 2 300s, 2 200s. Then we did weights. Ate lunch. I was so tired in history. I was trying so hard not to fall asleep. Track practice wore me out. It was super hot today.
I had something else I wanted to say but now I have forgotten it. I have to go to my chemistry class now.

Second Attempt

First off... I would just like to tell everyone that if they do not listen to Chris Tomiln they should start right now. His album Arriving is awesome. I have listened to it every morning when I wake since I got it.
I would like to give a pink flamingo(because I think a shout out sounds silly) to my two best friends... Leech Girl and Starfish! I miss you guys so much. Don't worry, I miss everyone else too. They are just the special people of the day.
Right now I am jealous of my family... they moved into the house without me. Jk. That is so awesome that it Finally happened (8 months later). I can't wait to see it in December. It will be exciting sleeping in the Guest room. :)
So this weekend has been pretty fun so far. Friday night we went to the first night of Big Spring Jam. We walked around to the different stages and listened to different bands. We heard Saving Abel, Chris Cagle(some country guy that Leah wanted to hear), Edwin McCain, Buckcherry(he had to be on something), and STYX. There were 8 other bands, but we either didn't want to see them or we were to busy with a better band. After we left we ate taco bell b/c I was super hungry. When we got home I realized that our clothes and hair smelled like cig smoke b/c so many people were smoking. It was gross. I ended up getting 3 hours of sleep before I had to wake up to go to the pancake breakfast. I must say that I had the worst job. I had to clean off and sort the dishes that the waiters were bringing in. I'm glad I had gloves because they were covered with butter and syrup. I was scraping peoples' leftover mess and picking trash out of syrup so the the guy washing dishes had an easier time. It really wasn't that bad, but no one wanted to take my job when the second shift came in. Eventually Paris gave in and he took over. I was So hungry. I ate four pancakes... they were really good, but they are no match for Leah's pancakes(awesome). When we got back to the dorm Leah and I both fell back asleep. I actually typed a post about all this, but it messed up and I didn't want to do it again so I took a nap instead. After sleeping a while I eventually got up and showered. Leah and I went to eat dinner at Cheeburger Cheeburger. It was really good. Then we went to Big Spring Jam. We heard Darius Rucker(the guy from Hootie and the Blowfish), Presidents of the United States(they were okay), and T-Pain. We wanted to go listen to Gretchen Wilson to hear that Redneck Woman song, but we missed her. Kansas and 38 Special were there too but we were at a different stage. There were 18 bands last night. After we ate Waffle House. I now like it more than IHOP. I went to sleep around 3 and I tried to sleep in, but I woke up at 9:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm sorry this is such a long post. If you made it all the way to the end you should go eat some delicious treat to reward yourself.

Gah!

I just typed a pretty long post and my internet freaked out and now its gone. I will type it later, but right now I'm too tired.

Baffled

I'm having trouble with the world lately. I know I should not put my faith in earthly things, but you can't ignore them either. I have heard so much bad news in the past few days and it is making me crazy. It just blows me away that there can be So Much Evil in this world and no matter how many people try to help and try to make a difference things just seem to keep getting worse. I have started to do some serious soul searching this morning. I haven't really found anything yet and I don't know what I'm looking for, but I'm still looking. All I want to do with my life is make a change. I don't care about making lots of money or becoming famous or anything for myself. If it would do any good, I would become a super hero... minus the super powers... well Danni knows my superpower. I would help and save people and make sure no one knew who I was. But then my character would be famous, and I don't want that. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I still want to go into the peace corps, but I don't know what to do with my college career. What should I major in? I'm pretty sure helping people or traveling the world trying to make a difference are not majors at any college. I don't even know if that is what I actually want to do. What if everything I do never changes anything? I'm a poet, a peace loving hippie, a confused teenager, a runner, a pianist(I haven't had access to a piano since January... I'm going crazy. I need to buy a keyboard or something.), a liberal (OBAMA!), a toothpick(96 lbs), a singer(I'm going to be in a musical someday), a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend, a bloody horrible procrastinator, an asthmatic that's allergic to the outdoors, a Christian.................. and still, I don't know who I am. So I continue my quest for the Holy Grail... well not quite, but for myself and my future and what is right in all this chaos.
This is another crazy vent post so grammar, spelling, and punctuation are not important. Again... if it doesn't makes since... we neither do I, so its okay.

Waiting for the Weight

Today I weighed myself after practice. I am 96 pounds. I told CT that and she said I need to get into the weight room. I told her that my junior year I lifted every day and only weighed 99 pounds. I have never been 100. She said her goal is to get me to 102 pounds. I eat 2 plates of food at the caf, and I'm talking about full plates... yes, i can't believe it either, but... my food touches. I know that sounds crazy and you are thinking, "Alex is letting her food touch? The world must be ending." but I can safely tell you that I am just way to hungry after track practice to even care.
I also have a question... what is in laundry detergent that makes it blue? I have never seen a laundry detergent that wasn't blue. (The powder stuff doesn't count.)

Victory is Ours!

We got the couch back. Leah, Lauren, their mom, Ashley, Beth, and I all went to the guys room. Leah pulled Dallas off the couch and Ashley and Beth took the couch out. I held the door and carried the wheel that fell off. We are locking our door from now on... at least until the marshmellow assassination is over. The whole dorm has this thing going on... its a marshmellow war. I don't really get all the details, but i'll figure it out. But we definatally don't want our couch stolen or marshmellows all over our room.
This is my 3rd post of the day, so you peolpe better read and comment on all of them!

I'm Useless

The guys are trying to seal the couch right now and I'm here all alone so there is nothing I can do about it. :(

Yesterday I woke up at 6am to go work our cross country home meet. I stood around and waited for the runners to get to me and I made sure they took a right turn. It was pretty boring standing there by myself with nats and mosquitos swarming all around me so I walked in circles trying to avoid the bugs. Jay Poole(a guy on the track team) had a sation near mine, so after the runners went by him he would come talk to me to make the time go by faster. Ater the guys race Leah was done at her station and came and stood with me. Both guys and girls teams got first.... yay. Afterward we had BBQ... I don't like bbq, but I ate some. The banana pudding was delicious.
After all that we went back to campus where Leah's mom and twin sister were waiting for us. We went out to eat and walked around Bridge Street. Andy and Dallas went with us. Then we went home and watched tv for a while. Lauren(Leah's sister) spen the night and slept in Leah's bed with her. I went to bed early, so I don't know how late they stayed up or how long Dallas and Andy stayed. I was tired.

Frozen Friday

Today at track practice we ran 10 200s. They had to be under 37 sec and we had 90 sec of rest in between. After that we did weights and abs. She killed us with abs today! As usual we went and ate lunch afterwards, and I ate catfish, jasmine rice, and green beans. It was so good. Yesterday the lunch was terrible so I was happy today. Last night there was lasagna and it was delicious.
So after we ate lunch Leah and I went to get an ice bath. The trainer wasn't there so we had to make our own. CT told us to put 3 (big) buckets of ice and 4 of water. Let me tell you... it was COLD and it was PAINFUL. CT asked if we would do it for 10 or 15 min and I was like "15!" My toes were on fire it was so cold. Last week when we took an ice bath we used the one that had been sitting there for a while. It was only 57 degrees. Today we took a fresh one that was 30something degrees! It took me like 5 min to get used to it and even then my toes were killing me. After a while my ankles and shins started to hurt. Oddly my knees felt pretty warm... I was grateful to them. When the time was up we struggled to get out of the tub. My toes hurt so bad. I wanted to cry they hurt so bad. But I didn't... I'm to tough for that. I couldn't feel my (bright red) legs or bend my knees. I love ice baths. Even though you have to go through so much pain, your legs feel so much better after they have thawed out. You are not sore at all and you are ready to go 10 more 200s.

Another Day at UAH

Well I wish I had something to report, but nothing has happened. I do the same things all the time:
Monday and Wednesday I go to math, go to practice, eat lunch, go to History, go to my room, shower, get ready for class, go to Biology.
Tuesday and Thursday I go to Math, go to study hall, go to practice, eat lunch, go to my room, shower, get ready for class, go to Biology. On Thursdays I go to my Chemisty lab instead of math and I go to Bio lab right after Biology.
Friday I go to math, go to practice, eat lunch, ice bath, and the rest of the day varies. The weekends can change too, but so far Leah and I have been pretty lazy. We do laundry, eat somewhere besides the caf b/c we need a break from that food, and if we need to we get groceries.
I just thought of something... today at practice CT said that the guys side of the team is being a team, but the girls side is not. She said that there is a "bad apple" and we have one week to fix it before she calls "the apple" out. I didn't even know we were having a prroblem... I was talking to some of the other girls and they didn't think so either. So we had a girls' team meeting. We talked about that and I still don't know who she ment. Some of the girls said that the freshman are coming out more, but we still have a bit more to go. CT said to me, "I know you are shy, but you are going to have to get over it." I was just like, "I'm not shy. I just don't talk alot." If I have something to say, I will say it. So now they have asked for the outgoing Alex that they will probabally want to go away once they see her. Just kidding. I guess I can understand why people would think I'm shy. I just don't like to talk a lot. I have no problem talking to people I don't know and it doesn't bother me to get up in front of people. Oh well.
I still have to go get my tire fixed... Friday. And I have to talk to a councelor... Friday.

No Name Day

The guys saw the couch in our room for the first time yesterday. They didn't seem to care, so I hope they aren't planning anything.
I AM TIRED. I am about to go to history and I will be fighting off sleep the whole time.
Track practice was good. I am going to have big strong muscles when I get back. But again... I'm tired.
I went grocery shopping yesterday. It was Leah's first time without her mom. It was easy for me, but I have been doing all the shopping with Dan(without mom) for a while now.
I had a book called The Muscians Notebook for my friend Mishaal. It looked just like my book the Poets Notebook. I went to mail Mishi her gift and accidentally grabbed mine. She sent me a message thanking me for it but wondered why I did. Thats when I realized my mistake. So i'm going to have to make a trade.

Friday Frenzy

Yesterday was a long day.
I went to my only class: precal. I got my test back... a 94.
I went to track practice. It went well.
We went and ate lunch.
Leah, Christine(another girl on the team), and I went and had an ice bath. My legs feel much better.
We took showers and Leah and I just hung out. Maegan called Leah and said they needed someone to chase soccer balls because Kyle couldn't make it. So while Leah chased runaway balls I watched the soccer game. We lost 0-1. I think it was against North Georgia. Their goalie was really good.
After the game we went back to the dorm. A guy that won't leave Leah alone kept texting her about going to see a movie so she agreed to go only if I could go. So I went. Holy Wow! The movie was lame (Burn After Reading), he(Steve) was lame... he made me go buy the tickets and he was going to go have me go buy drinks and popcorn but I said no. When he finally left to go get drinks Leah and I were like, "I can't believe this guy!" Neither of us had fun. Well we did have fun before we met with Steve b/c we walked around Bridge Street and Leah got an awesome hat. but after we met with him it was lame. After we finally escaped from him we went back to the dorm. Then some friends of Leah's asked her if she wanted to go to the ATO house with them. She didn't want to go by herself so again I went. again, it was lame. as soon as you walk inside there were 3 pingpong tables where people were playing beer pong. the house was really nice, but really dirty. the floor was sticky from beer and i could feel my shoes sticking as I walked. The people were not that nice. I felt very out of place because all the girls were the sorority type and girls and guys alike looked at me like, "why the heck are you here?" I'm sure it didn't help that a lot of them were drunk. Leah's friend asked if we wanted to play beer pong and because he already knew that neither of us drank he would drink it for us. We said no. I texted Leah about leaving and she said we had to go. I told her that I would never go back there. Ever.
On a different note. Leah and I are thinking about being RAs next year. We would get free room and board, and free food. And we paid after that. I am going to talk to my RA about it today to learn more about it.
Oh yeah... I forgot to mention that before we went to the movie Leah and I went to Chilis and has a good time. We got the Create A Pepper t-shirts that they are selling right now. The money goes towards childrens cancer.
Next weekend we are going to thrift store shopping for awesome random shirts.

Epiphany

Today as I was sitting in class I realized something: I don't want to be a doctor. I have been talking about it since my sophmore year of HS, and today I realized that I don't want that anymore. I really did want to be a OBGYN, but for the past year or so I have started to wonder if that is what I really want. And now I have realized that, NO... I really don't want to go into the medical field. I think it is facinating, but for some reason I am no longer compelled to be in it. For one thing... I hate being in Biology. I hated it my freshman year in highschool and I hate it now. I mean... I did like the stuff about the human body and disecting stuff, but other than that... lame. Another thing... If I decide to be a doctor, I am going to be trying to get an internship and a job right out of med school. If I do that I won't be able to do the Peace Corps. I have wanted to join the Peace Corps for a long time, but you can only do it if you have a college degree. Right now I have no idea what I want to do. Maybe environmental engineering or maybe I will become a spy or a secret agent or a tattoo artist or a belly dancer. just kidding on the last few, but the first one does sound interesting. I am going to talk to someone, perhaps a councelor or a circus clown or an elephant... whoever can give me the best advice.
I just realized yesterday that I have to get the form for absentee voting ASAP. I'm not going to miss my first oppourtinity to vote. I'm sorry to those of you who like him, but McCain is an Idiot. GO Obama GO!

Not Bad, Not Bad At All

Work out was pretty good. We warmed up with a mile. We stretched and did drills. Then we did the work out. There were 15 stations with 2 people at each one. CT would tell us when to start, half way, and when to stop. We did the entire rotation once. The stations were swissball hyperextentions, crab walk(without putting your hands behind you), abs(put your feet in the air, touch your toes with the medecine ball and back down to your chest), fast knee ups, mountian climbers, decline pushups, abs(balance on your butt while touching the medecine ball to the ground on either side of you), dips, squats on a half ball thing(i don't know what its called), pushups, one legged squats, jump rope, lunges, and core(hold yourself in pushup position on your toes and elbows). Then we cooled down with 2 laps around the gym and stretched. It was much easier than expected. Coach Cain said we were going to do more running, but it was raining outside so we stayed in the gym. It was definatally a work out, but everyone survived.
When we were doing drills CT would call people out who were doing them right to show everyone else. She called me out for B skips. I was happy... if CT approves, you must be doind something right. She told me good job on some of my other drills too. I guess Coach Straham's obsession with drills is paying off.

Midnight Laundry

Last night Leah, Megan, and I went to starbucks to get some coffee. We sat outside Starbucks and talked for a really long time. Then we went to Walmart because we needed some Folgers. The coffee we have now is gross. We got back around midnight. I still hadn't done my laundry and Leah had some to do too, so at 12:30 we went and did our laundry. We sat on top of the washers and did homework until did homework and listened to music unil 2. I didn't go to bed until 2:30 because I had to fold my laundry. I forgot to set my alarm for this morning but still woke up at 8:20 to get ready for my 9:10 class.

Couch

So yesterday Leah and I ran into Andy and Dallas around 12pm and they told us about this couch they found at the thrift store. It had wheels and pulled out into a bed, but it didn't have a price tag on it, so they were going to go back for it Monday.
Around 7 Beth(suite mate) called me and said she and Ashley(other suite mate) had found this couch that they were thinking about buying. It had wheels and pulled out into a bed, but it didn't have a price on it so they were going to go back for it Monday. The guys overheard this (my phone is kind of loud) and they were like, "Heck no! That's our couch! We are going back for it tomorrow." So I texted Beth and told her what they had said. She and Ashley immediately went back to the store and begged the people there to let them buy it. They priced it at $29($32 with tax). They started calling everyone to find a truck and eventually borrowed Coach Cain's. While we were at the fair Beth texted me and said the couch was in our room. I told Leah, but we didn't tell Andy and Dallas. They are probably going to go to the store today and be mad that its not there.... I have a feeling there is going to be a war over this couch... or Andy and Dallas are going to be really mad at us.

The Fayetteville County Fair

Last night was a lot of fun. It ended up being, Leah, Ben, Andy, Dallas, and me. Leah and I ate foot long corn dogs. and then we went and rode a bunch of rides. It was really fun even though there were a ton of people smoking . We saw a kid that looked 10 who was smoking. We thought we were going to get cancer from secondhand smoke just being there. We also had a funnel cake. Yum. You can't go to a fair without having a funnel cake. It just hit me, just now as I was typing the word that I realized why it is called a funnel cake. I've never thought about that before. Anyways... I had a really good time, but by the end I was tired, so we drove through the fog back to Alabama.

Update

Today I went to a volleyball tournament. Chargers lost their first game. :( But we watched another game and that one was fun(even if it wan't our team). Last night... the concert was country... lame. So I went and watched 300 instead. I'd say its a pretty good movie. Thursday I didn't have a lab so I went to RUF large group. Leah and I both liked it quite a bit. She said she would go to small group with me on sunday. A girl on the -CC> team invited us to her church, so we are prebabally going there on Sunday. Later today Leah and I might go to a fair with the guy Leah has been going on dates with, Ben. I might go. I would probabally take someone else so I won't feel like a 3rd wheel. I'll probabally do my laundry today or tomorrow. Las weekend Leah came home with $80 in quarters, so I think we are set for a while.

To-Do

I already have my day planned out. I have class from 9:10-10:05. Then Leah and I are going to work out right after that. We will go eat lunch, and come back and shower. Then I will go to study hall for a while. I will then take a dipsosable camera to Walmart to get it developed. While waiting for the camera to be developed I will go to my interview at 2:30. Yes, I have an interview. It is with the Big Brother Big Sister organization. I have wanted to do this for a long time and I recentally found out that the one in Huntsville is on University! It could take a while for them to find me a sister... or it could take 2 days. They have to interview me to see what I'm like so they can find a kid to match. I am very excited about it, but I do need prayers that this whole thing works out. I will have to spend 1 hour a week with my "sister".
Back to my day. After the interview I will get my pictures at Walmart. Then I don't know what I'm going to do until I go to a concert Pi Kappa Alpha is having. The guy's name is Jamie Grooms. I've never heard of him, but others say he is good.

Sorry

I'm regret to inform you that I have nothing to say today. Nothing happened. It was very boring. I did run 3 miles at 11:00, and i almost felt as hot as Texas. I hope it cools down soon.

Study Hall

Study Hall started today. I went for an hour and a half today. Freshmen have to have 5 hours a week. I shouldn't have a problem getting all my hours in.

New Phone

I got a new phone. I like it so far. I miss my slide phone though... I liked that a lot. There are a few things I'm going to have to get used to, but it is a good phone. I bought it from a guy on craigs list. It says 3G on it... what does 3G mean?

Isaiah 6:1-8

Small Group

Last night I went to a co-ed freshman small group. It is with the campus group RUF(Refined University Fellowship). They are a Presbiterian based group so they are hard core about scripture... with me being a Methodist, this could be a good thing for me. The people in charge of this group are a married couple with one daughter and another one on the way. They are very nice. There were only three other girls there last night, but I'm sure it will grow. Last year they said there were 14 poeple in the group. I'm going to invite Leah next week to see if she likes it. I'm actually excited to go back next week.
